Making It Easy With #Genesis Simple Share

Those who know me, know I am a huge fan of Genesis Framework by Studiopress.  The framework itself is simply amazing. It is a Powerhouse of sorts that encapsulates a Design, Security, and SEO foundation for your website!

But I’m not here today to talk about the framework. There are over 164,000 websites that trust Genesis Framework by Studiopress and the number increases daily! Amazing stats, right?

If you already are using Genesis, then you know how fabulous Genesis plugins are by Studiopress. There are so many out there that can make our websites that much better with little effort. Today I want to talk to you about one that is near and dear to my heart.

Genesis Simple Share

If you’re a blogger or have a business website, I pray that you have some type of social share buttons to promote your site. There are plugins that are:

  • Free
  • Premium (at a cost)

Other than the Share application from Jetpack, which most don’t like because they believe it to be a resource hog, Genesis Simple Share is McDreamy!

In order to show you how easy it is to set up, after Installation of the Plugin that is, I’ve created this simple graphic.

How easy was that?

Let’s look at more of the features:

  • Easy drag and drop to change the icons
  • You choose which post types Genesis Simple Share should be active on
  • You choose where the icons should be displayed on your posts: Top, Bottom, Both
  • The ability to add your Twitter @UserName when sharing your post via Twitter
  • The ability to add an URL to an image for use as your default site image

Cool, right?

Well, if you had any difficulties with the install or setup, feel free to Contact Me and I can help walk you through it (pro bono of course).

If you want to see how the share buttons work in action, feel free to scan below this article to my Genesis Simple Share icons and take them for a test drive! Of course, I’ll definitely appreciate it!

Genesis Framework Series

Because I believe so highly of the Genesis Framework by Studiopress and all it has to offer, I will be bringing you a series of articles on:

  • How to get started after you purchased your Genesis Framework.
  • The flexibility of Customizing your Child Theme
  • Plugin’s that make your life easier

This is a platform that I know and trust and would not recommend to you if I didn’t approve of it.

  3. Hi Bren,

Great post! I am a big fan of Genesis too, and I found out when I first started using it that it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. Genesis is absolutely amazing!

I love the infographic you created! Your installation instructions are really well made and very easy to follow. I’m sure that it will help those who want to install the plugin. I probably try it this weekend. I’ll tell you how it went!

Thanks for sharing this with us, gf! Have a great rest of the week! 🙂

    1. Hi Nataly,

I’m glad to hear that the “fears” of using Genesis didn’t stop it! I’m also glad to hear you like my little graphic. Sometimes bullet points work but I wanted to be a bit more creative a capture a different essence.

If you have any issues this weekend with the Simple Share plugin, you know how to get a hold of me. 🙂

      Good luck!

  4. This post was so informative – I don’t know how I’ve never heard of this before but it looks like it would be SO helpful! Thanks so much for the great post, I’ve put this on my list to look into for my blog 🙂

    1. Hello!

If you’re not using Genesis Framework by Studiopress, you might not have heard of it. On the Studiopress website, they have a page dedicated to the Genesis plugins created by them. It’s really a good site to look at.

Thanks for stopping by to share!

  5. This is awesome! I actually just installed shareaholic, and I don’t really like it, so I’m going to try this instead. It looks so much simpler and cleaner. Thank you for the instructions too!

    1. Hi Shann,

Are you using Genesis Framework on your site? I’ve never really been a fan of Shareaholic. I think the Jetpack sharing service is better than it, but that’s just my personal opinion. There are some really good Premium options out there as well, but I’ll touch that in another post. Rob mentioned Social Warfare which is what I’m using on MGP.

      Good luck!

      Brenda

  6. I love Genesis and use it for my blog and my web design static site. It’s so user friendly and that’s what I love about it.

Great post Bren! Love the graphic you put together! Passing this on. Hope you’re having a great hump day!

    Cori

    1. Hey Cori!

Yes, I know you are a Genesis fan! I think some are afraid that it may be too technical, but I have found many people to help me out at Studiopress whenever I’ve had theme issues or just wanting to do some editing. Glad you liked my graphic as well and thank you for passing it along.

Have an awesome day, my friend!

  7. Hey Brenda,

This post cane at the right time. Just last night I was looking for more social share buttons since the one I have now isn’t working. On top of that I’m already using the Genesis Framework. So this came at a great time.

One question: Do you know if Genesis came with social follow me buttons as well?

Thanks for the share! Have a great day!

    1. Hi Sherman! Good to see you!

I’m glad that my article was so timely. I think you will love Simple Share. As for the Follow Me? Yes, indeed! I use Simple Social Icons by Nathan Rice. I’m sure you’ll like it too. Very easy to set up. Just install the plugin, put the widget where you want it, add your social urls, and you can customize the size and color of the icons. I was going to do a post on that as well so you’re one up!

Thanks for stopping by, Sherman. I hope you like the plugins!

  8. Hi Bren,

You have made this so easy to use! Thanks so much for that. I like the drag and drop. So much easier than anything!

I haven’t used Genesis Framework but I’ll look into it….meanwhile I’ll be sharing this post.

    -Donna

    1. Hi Donna,

You mean you aren’t using Genesis? What are you using, if I may ask? I swear by Genesis because it is very user-friendly and what you don’t understand, there are thousands out there to help you. I hope if you look into it, you might give it a try.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Hope you’re having a fabulous day.

  9. Nice article Brenda on Genesis Simple Share. I absolutely love Genesis and use it on all my sites.

I used to use it as it was nice looking and really light on the site. But then I started using Social Warfare. It is a premium plugin, but I do love all of the cool things it can do.

Again, great article and talk to you soon.

    1. Thank you Rob, and Welcome!

I’m always happy to meet another Genesis fan. I remember when I first started blogging and never heard of Genesis nor Studiopress. Boy, was I left in the dark. When I found them, it was instant love.

I have to admit, I do love Social Warfare and use it on my other site. The flexibility and creative options are really great! I may eventually upgrade my license and use here but for now, I’m really enjoying the lite and airy feeling of Genesis Simple Share.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

      Brenda
